Where can I learn more about security labels?

The need for security can often be addressed with a label. The alarming increase in product counterfeiting and/or tampering has affected the profits and reputations of a number of reputable manufacturers. To attack this problem, many manufacturers of various products are turning to pressure sensitive label security systems for their protection (i.e. holograms, void labels.). A few examples are outlined in the table below:

Security Level   Possible Devices   Possible Uses
Low   Destructible and tamper-evident labels: tear, rip or leave behind a (customized) pattern when removal is attempted   Fire extinguishers, OTC drugs, genuine OEM replacement parts
Medium   2D, 3D and Kinetic Holograms: extremely difficult to reproduce particularly specific-image holograms   CDs, audio-video tapes, sports equipment, credit card overlays
High   Destructible, tamper-evident or holographic label with machine-readable features such as numbers, words or patterns that can be detected only with laser, UV, IR or microscopic aid   Genuine OEM replacement parts, audio-video equipment, credit cards and personal identification cards
